A historic meeting took place on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at MarVines Creative Arts Studio, where five artists gathered to discuss their legacy, the state of art, and the experiences of Black artists in America. From left to right: Sculptor Omar Shaheed, Photographer Ricardo Davenport, Artist Benjamin Marcus, Photojournalist Anthony Alden Vines, and Artist Ron Anderson. "I was in awe of the creative magnitude of the artists sitting around the table. It was truly a powerful moment," one of the participants reflected. "Our goal is not only to network and organize our personal business affairs but also to establish an artist consortium. This group aims to mobilize and empower other artists through panel discussions, legacy building, estate management, group exhibits, workshops, and various support services." What happen when small budgets and big hearts join forces? Soul Food and Vinyl! Who said there ’s a generational divide? Saturday May 30, 2015 Artist, DJ’s, music and soul food lovers came out to support Soul Food and Vinyl held at the Millworks Arts Complex warehouse 2020 Leonard Ave Columbus, Ohio. DJ O’Sharp and guests: Dj Pos 2, Dj Prime, Krate Digga, Dj Rees-2OH, and Jon Rogers played a variety mix of 80’s, 90’s hip-hop and R&B vinyl wax favorites. DJ O'Sharp Hosted by “The Choice Is Yours” co-sponsored by X Urban Music Magazine and Millworks Arts Complex, the event was held to help raise funding for afterschool programming and other community base projects and programming to uplift our youth. In our effort to develop community projects and programming to uplift our youth and non-profits who support youth development, "The Choice Is Yours" After School Program will resume hosting a series of fund raising events Spring 2016.
