PORTRAITURE OF DEATH By Anthony Alden Vines

I remember when my brother died 10 years ago; his death brought tears to my soul. I was engaged in my normal busy schedule and heard an unearthly voice that said “call home”. My Reflection Open edition Lithograph 18x24 The MarVines Art Gallery is part of a nonprofit organization established in 1997 in memory of the late Artist Marvin Vines, known in the art world as MarVines, who combined two disciplines, art and education, to convey the plight of African Americans. MarVines’mentors recognized his artistic talents very early in life. He enrolled in art classes at the Toledo Museum of Art as a child. He continued to refine his natural talent by graduating with a master’s degree in art education. MarVines’ background as a draftsman enabled him to illustrate the essence of his subjects with precision and remarkable clarity. His mastery of multiple media, including acrylics, collages, colour transparencies, pen and ink drawings, leathering and sculpturing, is evidenced by an inventory of several hundred candid and exceptional works of art. The gallery fosters the creative development of artists in need who desire to showcase their talents...
