Here’s your chance to put it in front of a live audience inside an intimate, private loft space where art lives raw and unfiltered. We’re looking for artists of every medium—painters, photographers, sculptors, digital creators, mixed-media dreamers—anyone whose drive and vision push them to the next level of creative excellence. What happen when small budgets and big hearts join forces? Soul Food and Vinyl! Who said there ’s a generational divide? Saturday May 30, 2015 Artist, DJ’s, music and soul food lovers came out to support Soul Food and Vinyl held at the Millworks Arts Complex warehouse 2020 Leonard Ave Columbus, Ohio. DJ O’Sharp and guests: Dj Pos 2, Dj Prime, Krate Digga, Dj Rees-2OH, and Jon Rogers played a variety mix of 80’s, 90’s hip-hop and R&B vinyl wax favorites. DJ O'Sharp Hosted by “The Choice Is Yours” co-sponsored by X Urban Music Magazine and Millworks Arts Complex, the event was held to help raise funding for afterschool programming and other community base projects and programming to uplift our youth. The menu consisted of down home cooked soul food favorites: BBQ chicken, collard greens, fried cabbage, fried corn, cornbread, rice and beans.   I remember when my brother died 10 years ago; his death brought tears to my soul. I was engaged in my normal busy schedule and heard an unearthly voice that said “call home”. I stopped immediately what I was doing, picked up the phone, and called my mom. My nephew picked up the phone and said they found Uncle Marvin at his home unconscious and rushed him to the hospital. I knew the end was coming; he had been diagnosed six months ago with terminal lung cancer and fought a valiant battle to survive with dignity. He knew he would lose the battle, but he wanted to die a warrior. With honour and dignity, he didn't want to stretch out his impending death by having someone take care of him. He chose to die in control and the comfort of his home. I hung up the phone, composed myself and jumped in my car to make the two-hour ride to Toledo. God is great! No one thought to call me and tell me that he was fighting for his life in intensive care, yet the spiritual connection between m...
