Soul-Food & Vinyl:This event will be a communal effort to unite generations and promote cultural awareness. What better way than to do it with Soul-food, live performers, karaoke, and vinyl music.
In our effort to develop community projects and programming to uplift our youth and non-profits who support youth development, "The Choice Is Yours" After School Program will resume hosting a series of fund raising events Spring 2016.
"Soul Food and Vinyl” an evening of home cooked Soul-food, with local guest DJ's spinning your favorite old school /new school vinyl’s. A silent art auction and special musical guest performers will headline this exciting event of food, music, fun and good will.
100% of proceeds will go back to the select charities.
"The Choice is Yours” After School Program, a solution base print and online magazine created by youth for youth, through an entrepreneurial mentorship development program.
X Urban Music Magazine and MarVines Community Arts Foundation will be the host sponsor of this monthly event.

  I remember when my brother died 10 years ago; his death brought tears to my soul. I was engaged in my normal busy schedule and heard an unearthly voice that said “call home”. I stopped immediately what I was doing, picked up the phone, and called my mom. My nephew picked up the phone and said they found Uncle Marvin at his home unconscious and rushed him to the hospital. I knew the end was coming; he had been diagnosed six months ago with terminal lung cancer and fought a valiant battle to survive with dignity. He knew he would lose the battle, but he wanted to die a warrior. With honour and dignity, he didn't want to stretch out his impending death by having someone take care of him. He chose to die in control and the comfort of his home. I hung up the phone, composed myself and jumped in my car to make the two-hour ride to Toledo. God is great!
